Applications of Peridynamics in Marine Structures

نویسندگان

چکیده

Marine environment is a harsh and challenging for both operators analysers due to extreme weather conditions. As result of these conditions, marine structures are subjected and/or cyclic loadings. This will then lead various different damage modes including corrosion fatigue. Such major threats the reliability integrity which can cause risk on human environmental safety, yield financial losses. Moreover, climate change concern requires urgent attention. In order minimize negative effects change, energy transition from utilisation fossil fuels greener solutions, such as offshore wind, should be adapted. There currently rapid progress investment green technologies especially wind generation. Another emerging area hydrogen considered environmentally friendly fuel future.

A Review of Peridynamics and its Applications; Part1: The Models based on Peridynamics

Peridynamics is a nonlocal version of the continuum mechanics, in which partial differential equations are replaced by integro-differential ones. Due to not using spatial derivatives of the field variables, it can be applied to problems with discontinuities. In the primary studies, peridynamics has been used to simulate crack propagation in brittle materials. With proving the capabilities of pe...

non-linear study of various slit shear walls in steel structures

seismic retrofit strategies have been developed in the past few decades following the introduction of new seismic provisions and the availability of advanced materials and methods. it can be observed that new approaches to deal with more lateral forces are more innovative and more energy absorbent. in line with this, there is a growing trend toward the use of steel shear walls as a system with ...

Population structure and identify of macrofouling organisms on marine structures in the coasts of Chabahar Bay

This study has been carried out in the coast of Chabahar Bay from March, 2013 to Febuary, 2014. We sampled macrofouling organisms in three stations. Overall, 40 species of macrofouling organisms were detected in which Barnacles, sponges, Bryozoans, echinoderms, Polychaetes and Gastropods were the major groups. The majority of biomass and highest density were observed in the first half of the se...

Effect of environmental parameters on the amount of scour in marine structures

Scour is a phenomenon that occurs as a result of natural erosion by ground water flow and transport of seabed material. In this research, scour around the legs of marine structures is simulated using the FLOW3D.V.9.3™ commercial software. The general scour model consists of two components, namely, the lift and thrust forces. The drag force, that is inserted to the structure, is a combination of...

Exopolysaccharides from Marine and Marine Extremophilic Bacteria: Structures, Properties, Ecological Roles and Applications

The marine environment is the largest aquatic ecosystem on Earth and it harbours microorganisms responsible for more than 50% of total biomass of prokaryotes in the world. All these microorganisms produce extracellular polymers that constitute a substantial part of the dissolved organic carbon, often in the form of exopolysaccharides (EPS). In addition, the production of these polymers is often...
